The article listed above explains how Genius Hour is an effective tool in the classroom setting and how it is growing in popularity throughout other schools. One teacher emphasized on the fact that failure is an option, as long as you learn from it. Allowing the students to know failure is an option, the students take more risks. The article then discusses how they sold the idea of Genius Hour to parents, then students. From my learning in this article, I have more confidence in my Genius Hour Project. I know that to matter what the outcome of my project is, I wont get a bad grade in the class. Genius Hour is based on students completing tasks and using their creativity to make an impact. As long as I do what I am told, and try my best to get a therapy dog in KHS, it wont effect my grade. Even if I don´t successfully get a therapy dog, I will still obtain a learning experience.

In the month of October, I wish to do as much research as I can on benefits on therapy dogs in school settings. I will need to know the path other people took to get a dog into their school environment. Also, I will have to determine how much money a dog will cost (including veterinarian appointments and treatments), and how I am going to fundraiser. After I know as much as I can about the subject, I wish to write a convincing paper to give to Mr. Smithson by the end of November. I hope to get my idea approved by Mr. Smithson and start fundraising by the end of December. These monthly goals are the itinerary for completion of my Genius Hour Project by January 10, 2017.
